I loved what he was doing throughout the entire campaign and then seeing him use his power to take over the world was just wonderful!. No, he's an individual and all. The only way to define him that way is to take all of his quirks and give them character rather than personality, instead of trying to make them fit in with his real role, or just using our existing stereotypes to fill in the details. I don't believe he can't lead an army of good guys, and the only way he could lead the army was to turn these people into heroes. That's why we're doing The Wolverine. He's not the only character in this history who's a hero in this book. He does have a lot of backstory to his story, and he's not the only one who has a backstory of sorts. There are all kinds of other people and characters who will fit the character.
